COLORS!

A rugs background or highlights of color can vary in meaning depending upon region and culture, but overall a DEEP BLUE of the Persian rugs and Afghan rugs represents royalty, and a deeply felt spiritual life.

RED can mean happiness and joy.

ORANGE is for devotion and pity.

YELLOW can be an imperial color only woven for nobility, also can mean power or glory.

GREEN is a holy color, sacred, a prophet’s color, can also represent paradise.

Various shades of BLUE represent solitude or truth.

BLACK can represent death or destruction, but commonly woven for its dramatic affect in highlighting other colors.

BROWN often represents fertility.

WHITE can represent a wedding or purity, peace, grief or mourning, depending on the country of origin.

Carpet #2. The Brown One

This enticing carpet is not really brown, I just call it that! It has many hues of warm earth tones, burnt red, soft brown, sky blue and royal blue with subtle pinks and creams.
It has a busy story to tell, one of fortitude and strength.


I have enjoyed watching this collection of neutral tones take on a commanding presence in varying rooms with different decor. It truly becomes a unique piece over and over again.  


This carpet is the largest of the three, measuring 57.5 in x 83 in, not including the fringe.
(roughly 5 ft x 7 ft)


Do you recognize the beetles? They are being stopped by a wall and a garden. They are trying to get into the palace, the center design, below. 


Instead of a medallion, this carpet is centered by a palace. A very well protected palace, depicted in the varying linear patterns around the perimeter of the carpet. The lotus flower lines the right and left sides, lotus represents overcoming adversity and rising above struggle.
You will also notice the lotus flower on either 'tip' of the palace towers, blooming in abundance.

I personally love the natural imperfections. That is how you know something is genuine and not a product of a calibrated machine. The center diamond design is witness to the painstaking care that went into weaving such a masterpiece. 


The details are mesmerizing and magical.



Shiny flecks of silken ends, shimmering golden in the sunlight. 


The pile on this carpet is longer than the other two, it does not appear knotted tightly on the top as you will see in the other two carpets, the fibers are free and flowing.
This is the 'fluffiest' carpet of the three.
